Public Broadcasting Service's coverage of the 1980 Drum Corp International Championship from Birmingham, Alabama. Jim Peck, Steve Rondinaro, and Rita Moreno host the televised coverage of performances by the top 12 corps. Part 1 features an introduction to the championship, host predictions, and interviews. The 12 corps will be judged on horn line, drum line, and color guard. Part 1 features North Star from Massachusetts performing "Prelude to War," "Where Am I Going," "Cookout," "Still," and "Olé." The Guardsmen from Schaumburg-Hoffman Estates perform "Seahawk," "Tiger of San Pedro," "Xylophonia," "The Wasps," and "Greensleeves." WTTW Channel 11 interrupts the coverage with station identification and sponsorship information.
